18 SHSM - Business Interested students should attend TODAY’s information session and sign up for the program - AUDITORIUM AT LUNCH Required Courses for a SHSM in Grade 11:  2 Grade 11 Business Studies Courses  1 Math Course  Additional Requirements – 2 – 4 credits in Co-op (recommended to be completed through Central Peel SS) * Will complete additional certifications throughout gr. 11

19 SHSM – SPORTS Students may wish to be considered for the Sports SHSM at Central Peel. See Mr. Hamilton in the Phys. Ed. Department for further information.

20 Things to Think About During Course Selection  With ‘Full Disclosure’, Universities and Colleges will receive all of your grade 11 course marks.  Plan to have all compulsory requirements done (except for gr. 12 English) by the end of grade 11 – including Group 1, 2, and 3.  Two grade 11 Phys. Ed. at the ‘open level’ are permitted – just remember they are ‘open level’ and not recognized by universities and colleges

21 Myths Corrected  Universities DO NOT CARE whether you have extra college, open or workplace credits on your record – only that you have a minimum of 6 GRADE 12 U or M courses  RESEARCH pre-requisites for university/college: many programs DO NOT require grade 12 math

22 Course Selection Process ONLINE – choose courses through your High School Planner on myblueprint.ca/peel OR the BYOD page START PLANNING NOW and SUBMIT ONCE YOU ARE SURE OF YOUR COURSES!!! The online site for course selection will open from Jan 6 – Jan 20 only!!

23 DO NOT click the Submit button unless you are absolutely sure about the courses you have chosen Ready to submit? Between Jan 6 – Jan 20, click Submit Courses and follow the instructions When your courses have been submitted, you will be “locked out” and unable to make changes Course Selection Process

37 SHSM - Business Requirements for a SHSM in Grade 11:  2 Grade 11 Business Studies Courses  1 English Course  1 Math Course  Additional Requirements – 2 – 4 credits in Co-op (recommended to be completed through Central Peel SS)  6 additional certifications (SHSM teacher arranged and school funded)  Completion of Ontario Skills Passport (assistance through SHSM teacher)  4 Reach-Ahead experiential learning opportunities (assistance through SHSM teacher)
