3 RECOMMENDATION NW 16 th Avenue / NW 23 rd Avenue Direct staff to proceed with the development of the 30% plans including the following design elements  Widen sidewalks to up to 10 feet wherever possible  Restripe travel lanes to 11 feet. Utilize raised audible thermoplastic on the outside white line.  Leave existing typical median widths unchanged

4 NW 16 th Avenue / NW 23 rd Avenue COMMUNITY WORKSHOP Held on December 15, 2010 at Littlewood Elementary School A total of 145 citizens signed in at the meeting PUBLIC COMMENTS A total of 44 comment forms were received and 42 individuals made verbal comments at the meeting. This resulted in 191 independent comments.

6 NW 16 th Avenue / NW 23 rd Avenue RECOMMENDED OPTION Option #2: Widen sidewalks Fill 2.5’ wide utility strips with concrete to create a 7.5’ wide sidewalk and widen the sidewalk to the outside wherever possible. The widened sidewalk will function more as a multi-use path.

Include audible thermoplastic for outside white line. Option #1: Narrow vehicle lanes to create additional space between vehicles and pedestrians
