Tower Road Enhancement Project Prepared for Alachua County By Causseaux & Ellington, Inc. Alachua County Roadway Network Improvements

Presentation Objective Through design and analysis, the Tower Road Design Team has determined that the “Ultimate Build” scenario is the best option for Tower Road. This presentation explains the design, analysis, and process by which the team determined the best design option. County staff requests comments regarding the design and the “Ultimate Build” option.

Design GoalsAnalysis Alachua County Roadway Network Improvements Goals, in accordance with Alachua County Comprehensive Plan: Improve traffic operations and LOS Improve traffic operations and LOS Provide multi-modal facilities Provide multi-modal facilities Provide traffic calming Provide traffic calming Provide enhancements including landscaping Provide enhancements including landscaping

Design GoalsAnalysis Sources of Tower Road design parameters: Tower Road Enhancement Project

Design GoalsAnalysis Roundabout Intersections

Design GoalsAnalysis Tower Road Analysis HNTB analyzed four future design scenarios and used VISSIM to model the roundabout scenarios for 2025 design year traffic projections: No Build No Build Preliminary Build Preliminary Build Optimum Build Optimum Build Ultimate Build Ultimate Build

Design GoalsAnalysis Tower Road Analysis No Build Existing geometry Existing geometry No roundabouts No roundabouts Signal timing adjusted Signal timing adjusted

Design GoalsAnalysis Tower Road Analysis No Build Summary: Five intersections below LOS D for AM Peak Five intersections below LOS D for AM Peak Seven intersections below LOS D for PM Peak Seven intersections below LOS D for PM Peak Large delays Large delays Data Results

Design GoalsAnalysis Tower Road Analysis Preliminary Build – 3 roundabouts as listed in the Alachua County Commission design directives Three roundabouts: SW 8 th Avenue SW 8 th Avenue SW 14 th Avenue (Martha Manson School) SW 14 th Avenue (Martha Manson School) SW 42 nd Avenue / 41 st Place SW 42 nd Avenue / 41 st Place

Design GoalsAnalysis Tower Road Analysis Combine SW 13 th Road intersection with SW 14 th Avenue at Tower Road SW 13 th Road SW 14 th Avenue
