6. Great Lakes/ St. Lawrence Lowlands Named for its major bodies of water Important waterways- major route for shipping, water and power for farming Canals- waterway that is built across land for boat travel, irrigation, or drainage Lock- “water elevator” that moves boats to higher or lower levels
