SHERPA What is SHERPA? SHERPA which means Securing a Hybrid Environment for Research Preservation and Access, is a partnership of 26 university and research libraries in the United Kingdom which are investigating issues in the future of scholarly communication and promoting open access. Some of the projects include RoMEO, JULIET and OpenDOAR URL for SHERPA http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/

SHERPA ROMEO What is SHERPA ROMEO? A database that includes the copyright and self-archiving policies of various journal publishers.

SHERPA ROMEO How do you Search SHERPA ROMEO? The SHERPA RoMEO database can be searched by journal title, publisher names or ISSN.

SHERPA ROMEO How to Interpret the Results of a SHERPA RoMEO Search?

SHERPA ROMEO What is a pre-print? In the context of the RoMEO database a pre-print is the version of the paper before peer review process. What is a post-print? In the context of the RoMEO database a post-print is the version of the paper after peer-review, with revisions having been made.

SHERPA ROMEO RoMEO uses different colour designations to differentiate between four categories of archiving rights. This colour coding was developed by the SHERPA RoMEO project team. 9 SHERPA JULIET What is SHERPA Juliet a database that includes the open access policies of various research funding agencies.

SHERPA JULIET

JULIET uses the ticks to indicate the level of support for open access that is mandated by the particular research funding agency. Each of the funding agencies gets a tick if each of the following key conditions is met:

SHERPA JULIET How to Interpret the Results of a SHERPA Juliet Search?

OpenDOAR What is OpenDOAR? directory of academic open access repositories. URL for OpenDOAR is http://www.opendoar.org http://www.opendoar.org

OpenDOAR How to Search for Repositories search box that allows for a keyword search of the records describing the repository. This search may be limited by the subject area, content type, repository type, country, language and software.

OpenDOAR How to Search for Repository Content The full-text contents of open access repositories may be searched through openDOAR by Google Custom Search Engine. This service does not use the OAI-PMH protocol, or the metadata held within repositories. Instead, it relies on Google's indexes, which in turn rely on repositories being suitably structured and configured for the Google web crawler.

DOAJ DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals DOAJ aims to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact. The URL for DOAJ is http://www.doaj.orghttp://www.doaj.org

Journal Info The purpose is to provide an assistance for the researcher in the selection of journal for publication. The service currently covers about 18,000 journals. It can be browsed by subject The URL for Journal Info http://jinfo.lub.lu.se http://jinfo.lub.lu.se

Journal Info How to Interpret the Results from Journal Info

OAI Harvesters What is a OAI harvester? OAI harvesters are systems that harvest the metadata from registered repositories and offer search interface for discovering information stored in open repositories

OAIster OAIster is a union catalog of digital resources. We provide access to these digital resources by "harvesting" their descriptive metadata (records) using OAI-PMH (the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting). The URL for OAIster is http://www.oaister.org http://www.oaister.org

CARL Harvester This Harvester is the search service for the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) Institutional Repositories The URL for CARL harvester is http://carl-abrc-oai.lib.sfu.ca http://carl-abrc-oai.lib.sfu.ca
