10. The Real Conflict The real motivation of most of the conflict was economic. If you could control the government and the people of the country, you controlled the money. US embargo of all Diamonds from South Africa was a huge economic blow to South Africa and forced them into a position that they reinterpreted their stance on Apartheid.
