2 TKAM Vocabulary Definitions 3 1. Cynical (adj): bitter; distrustful and pessimistic Maggie has been cynical about dating ever since her last boyfriend cheated on her and dumped her. 2. Dogged (adj): stubborn determination Keshon is so dogged that he will not give up trying to make free throw shots even though he misses every time. 3. Fatalistic (adj): to accept all things and events as if they are inevitable Mark’s fatalistic ideas allowed him to accept his grandmother’s death.

Uncouth (adj): crude or unmannerly Lindsey’s grandfather is known for his uncouth behavior in the grocery store because he always offends the cashiers. 10. Vehement (adj): full of emotion, feeling, or passion Jessie showed vehement excitement when she found out that she won the lottery.
