3 Which side did the United States support and why? U.S. supported Chiang Kai-Shek He was a Nationalist/noncommunist 1945-1949 sent Nationalists $3B in aid Chiang turned out to be a corrupt leader/large increase in taxes

4 What did the United States do to affect the outcome of the war? 1944 to 1947 peace maker between Nationalists & Communist Mao Zedong $2B military equipment & supplies

5 What was the outcome of the war? Mao wins war because of peasant support Mao taught people to read & how to grow food Chiang and followers flee to Taiwan/Formosa
