3 Compound Sentences Compound Sentences join two independent clauses The clauses can be joined by either – ; (Semi colon) –, (Colon) followed by Coordinating Conjunction (For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So) The Georgia Bulldogs colors are red and black; the mascot is UGA X The family is very excited to be going to Disney World, and they are leaving in the morning.

4 Complex Sentences Complex Sentences joins an independent clause to dependant clause Clauses can be joined in two ways – Subordinating Conjunction (Because) in middle of sentence – Subordinating Conjunction and ; (Semicolon) between the DC and IC Because the car is new; he will have to make car payments. The boy received a smiley face because he had good behavior.
