2 AUTHENTIC? What does it mean to be AUTHENTIC?  “Conforming to fact and therefore worthy of trust, reliance, or belief; not counterfeit or copied.”  The authentic person is reliable because their inner values and motivations are clear.  “Knowing and staying true to ones authentic Self is the foundation of Leadership”

5 “ A leader knows their values and remains true to them”  Values =Principles that define/determine your moral/ethical behavior.  Values govern the way we behave, communicate and interact with others  Beliefs are concepts that we hold to be true.  Beliefs derive from your values.

Opinion All “good/smart” people do their best at work and have a successful financially stable life. Reaction Have an adverse outlook on the homeless, unemployed, and people who struggle at work. Are validated by their jobs. Perception If you don’t have a job you are lazy, have no common sense and deserve to be in you circumstances

8 How to become Authentic?  Identify your values and passions  Identify ethical behavior  Identify role models that have the same values and passions  Spend time reflecting on weather your actions are consistent with your values.  Identify areas that you need growth in  Commit to your own physical well being.

10 An Authentic Leader: Is ethical and honest in all circumstances Delivers on commitments Accepts responsibility for behavior Can describe personal values and how they fit with life choices Has a better sense of self that integrates body, mind and spirit.
