2. What do plants need?

3. ROOTS
Roots hold a plant in the ground. They take in water and minerals from the soil.
The roots of a plant are underground, where you often don’t see them.

4. Stems
A stem connects the roots with the leaves of a plant and supports the plant above ground.

5. Leaves Leaves are plant parts that grow out of the stem.
Most plants have many leaves.
Leaves take in the air and light a plant needs.

6. Seeds Seeds produce seedlings that grow into new plants. Vocabulary:

7. How do plants make food? Chlorophyll Photosynthesis
The leaves of most plants are green. Plants get their green color from chlorophyll.

Plants make their own food this process is called photosynthesis.
