2 UNIT 1 SEMINAR AGENDA Welcome to our first seminar. In this session, we will address the following: Meet your fellow classmates and professor Discuss the syllabus, course expectations, and the class in general Discuss Rules for Writers and the companion website

6 THE WRITING PROCESS Unit 3 – Class Discussion will focus on Thesis Statement and Topic Choice Unit 6 – Class Discussion will focus on Thesis Unit 7 – Class Discussion will focus on First Draft Unit 8 – You will work on revising first draft!

7 LATE WORK Late assignments are marked down 5% for each week an assignment is late. You have a full seven days to complete each unit and those turned in on the 8 th day or later are considered late. Unit assignments are due on Tuesday at Midnight ET. If you have extenuating circumstances and would like to turn work in late without penalty, you must contact me in writing prior to the due date. Assignments will not be accepted that were due prior to midterm after the midterm grade has been issued (i.e., Unit 5). In addition, assignments will not be accepted after the last day of class unless you have arranged for an Incomplete Grade.

Dropbox: this is where you must submit and retrieve your projects. Webliography: your instructor will post links to useful websites here.

13 Tips for Success!  Read all of the course materials  Post in the Discussions early and often  Turn projects in on time  Pay attention to instructions  Use the Writing Center  Ask for help  Understand that online courses are just as challenging as courses at a traditional “on-ground” schools  Know that you get back what you put into something Do NOT plagiarize
