Confidential1 Panasonic Communications Co., Ltd. Office Network Company Edition 1.3 4 th July, 2007 Chapter 10 FAQ KX-TDE100/200 System (Version 1.0) KX-TDE100/200 System (Version 1.0)

Confidential2 1. DSP Card (1) Will the system operate without a DSP? Answer...... Yes but only peer to peer calls between IP-PTs (NT300/NT265D) and SIP telephones are available. (2) G722 CODEC can use variable bandwidth (48K/56K/64Kbps). How can this affect my bandwidth calculation? Answer...... To ensure good quality speech, we use 64Kbps only on the TDE. This is not configurable. (3) What happens if the system runs out of DSP resources during use? Answer...... The IP-PT will display "VoIP DSP busy". An SLT user will hear a normal busy tone. (4) What happens if there is an incoming call from an analog CO line and the DSP card is busy? Answer...... IRNA busy processing will immediately transfer the call to the programmed IRNA destination.

Confidential3 (7) Why is the required DSP resource different between IP-Trunk(G729=5) and IP-EXT(G729=4)? Answer...... IP-Trunks are required to support RTCP, using further resources. (8) Why are DSP resource values doubled for connection of an IP-Trunk and IP-PT if they use the same codec? Answer...... DSP resources will be used for RTCP processing (G711 and G729) and may also be required for conversion to G711 for internal detection of DTMF tones (G729). (5) When a trunk call (analog CO, ISDN, VoIP trunk) is placed on hold will this continue to use DSP resources? Answer...... Yes. The DSP resource will still be occupied, additionally, trunk callers will hear BGM via TSW. (6) Is any priority given to calls on hold over new calls for use of DSP resource? Answer...... No. DSP resources are allocated in order of use.

Confidential4 2. Maintenance IP Communication Port (1) Can I connect both LAN ports to the same L2 Switch/Network? Answer...... If Spanning Tree is enabled then there should be no issue. However, if Spanning Tree is not enabled then network loops may occur. The 2 nd LAN port is provided for connection of a PC directly to the TDE (Upper LAN port – This is the port which will be used for mirroring functionality). Alternatively, the customer may decide to disable the 2 nd LAN port completely.

Confidential5 3. Activation Keys (1) How can the dealer get an activation key file if the MPR card has been sent to the customer site and the dealer does not have access to the MPR card? Answer....... Please confirm the MPR ID before you send the product to customer site – It is not possible to issue any activation keys without the MPR ID (2) If the DSP card is swapped, what happens to the built in Activation keys? Answer...... The keys are exchanged with the cards as the keys are hard-coded into the card. (3) Can the dealer access previously installed key files? Answer....... Yes, using the activation key website. The dealer can enter the MPR ID and access a record of all the previously installed activation keys. (4) Can one user share the IP-PT key and Softphone key if only one is used at any one time? Answer...... No, you must install both, an IP-PT key and Softphone key.

Confidential6 (6) What happens to Activation keys when my dealer buys a second hand system to resell. Do the Activation keys belong to the previous owner? Or do they belong to the TDE? Answer...... Activation keys belong to the IPCMPR Card. Dealers can either sell the already activated system or add new keys to the system (It is not possible to resell the individual keys once they are allocated to an IPCMPR card). (5) What happens if my dealer deletes the Activation Key by accident? Answer....... The dealer can access and download keys as often as is required (Although it is good practice to keep a back-up copy of all files).

Confidential7 4. NT300 Series IP-PT (1) How long will a p2p conversation continue after a loss of connection back to the IPCMPR card? Answer...... The default setting is 20 seconds, however, you can change this value through system programming. (2) How many 60 CO key modules can I connect to an NT3xx? Answer...... Only one 60 CO Key module is supported. (3) How many of the existing model DSS consoles may be connected? Answer...... A maximum of 8 DSS consoles can be connected. (4) If a p2p conversation changes to 3 party conference, what happens to the G722 CODEC? Answer...... G722 CODEC changes to G711 CODEC automatically.

Confidential8 5. Built in SVM Card (1) Why does the 2ch SVM circuit require 4ch? Answer...... In a future release, the SVM card will support MSG card functions. 4ch will be required for CO-CO calls. 6. SNTP Client (1) How much time difference may occur if we don't use time adjustment feature? (In a 6 Month period) Answer...... Less than 30 sec in a month is expected. (6 month = less than 3 minutes). (2) Will the SVM function work without using a DSP card? Answer...... Yes.

Confidential9 7. Enhanced Walking Extension (1) When you set Service Out mode, will call FWD features work? Answer...... No, but you can set “Intercept to VM” instead. This function is supported from TDE V1.0. 8. IP-GW on IPCMPR (1) In PC maintenance software 9.3 Network operator (VoIP), do we support virtual IP-GW card slot No.? Answer...... Yes.
