Introduction Dinosaurs are very unique mammals. They came in many different shapes and sizes. How would you like to search the web and learn about these fascinating creatures with me?

Task Did you know that dinosaurs were on Earth for over 165 million years? Today, your task is to try and figure out a few things about dinosaurs. This web quest will give you the opportunity to both look up facts and think on your own.

Process While you explore the websites provided, your job is to make a poster (with a partner) with the following on it:  A drawing of the dinosaur of your choice.  The name and 3 facts about this dinosaur (what it eats, what it looks like and what makes it different from the other dinosaurs). http://www.kidsdinos.com/dinosaurs-for-children.php http://www.dinosaurfacts.org/sitemap  Most importantly, you need to come up with a few ways you think these dinosaurs might have become extinct. http://www.kidskonnect.com/subject-index/13-animals/20- dinosaurs.html

Evaluation 1 2 3 4 Cooperative Will not help or ignores partner Sometimes willing to help partner Shares work when asked and listens to partner Willingly explains things to partners and will use partner’s ideas Creativity Never thinks of other ideas to solve a problem. No drawing present. Occasionally has a new idea, but little follow through. Little to no effort put toward drawing. Has new ideas but will not share with others. Effort was clearly put into drawing. Develops new ideas or ways of doing things. More effort than expected, many details. On-task Constantly talking to others in room, rarely works on task Sometimes talks about unrelated subjects Usually follows the task and talks only to partner Always follows the steps of the task and sometimes goes beyond the concepts

Conclusion Great work! You should have learned several interesting facts about dinosaurs that you can now share with a few classmates. To learn more about dinosaurs, you can go to http://www.childrensmuseum.org/themuseum/dinosphere/kids/kid s_dino_faq.html http://www.childrensmuseum.org/themuseum/dinosphere/kids/kid s_dino_faq.html

Teacher’s Page 4 th or 5 th grade Purpose: This web quest was made to not only teach the students about the creatures that once roamed our home, but it is also to get them thinking on their own about extinction theories. This activity will give them a chance to research independently, or with a partner, and it will showcase their creative side as well.
