3 2.1.1 PROFESSIONAL IDENTIFY Advocate for client access to the services of social work When I used to mentor a little girl (ST) at Ferrum Elementary School Practice personal reflection and self-correction to assure continual professional development Identifying my areas of strength as well as areas that requires improvement Attend to professional roles and boundaries By not getting myself emotionally involved with the students or individuals that I work with

5 2.1.2 ETHICAL PRINCIPLES Make ethical decisions by applying standards of the NASW Code of Ethics Was informed of a situation where I had to be considered a mandated reported for an incident while mentoring a little girl Using the NASW Code of Ethics to make an ethical decision Becoming more aware of my personal views

6 2.1.3 CRITICAL THINKING Demonstrates effective oral communication in working with groups Engage in problem solving techniques Lunch group sessions and classroom guidance lessons Working with the Teen Opportunity Program at STEP Being a instructor of praise dance (ages ranging from 3 to 73 years old)

10 2.1.7 KNOWLEDGE OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT Collaborate with colleagues and clients for effective policy action Collaborated with my colleague to teach students in Teen Opportunity Program about sex education Helped make up lesson plans dealing with boundaries and bullying Attend different coalition meetings that address issues with the homeless rates and students behaviors Collaborate with the different facilities in the area

14 FUTURE GOALS Life after Ferrum College I plan to obtain my Masters of Social Work (hopefully at Temple University) Focus will be on at-risk youth and families One day I hope to own a Community Center for youth and families where there will be a computer lab, classrooms, game room, kitchen, basketball court/gym, offices
