1 Prepping for Spring final exam! United States History Ms. Girbal Thursday, June 4, 2015

2 Format of final exam Multiple choice 80 questions (1 point each) Covering chapters 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15.1, 16, 18.3, and 19.3 Matching (IDs) 20 questions (1 point each= 20 points) Key terms from only chapters 15.1, 16, 18.3 and 19.3 Short answer 2 questions (10 points each= 20 points) Answer on the booklet provided. Answer each of the questions with 2-4 sentences.

3 Final exam Period 6 may start final at 8:00 am Period 5 will have until 12:30 pm

4 Format of final exam Long essay 1 question (30 points) Answer on the booklet provided. Answer each of the essay question in at least 3 paragraphs. Ms. Girbal will pick (at random) one from the two questions on the studyguide. The selection will be made at the beginning of the Final Exam period.

5 Essay #1 1. Pick three NEW DEAL programs (AAA, NRA, CCC, WPA, PWA, TVA) and explain what they did and how they addressed the problems created by the Great Depression.

6 Essay #2 2. How was President Kennedy's foreign policy consistent with the United States' Cold War goal of containing communism?

7 Rubric for Long Essay 27-30 (A) Clear thesis (argument) that addresses the question 3 or more specific examples supporting the thesis Essay addresses all parts of the question Essay is at least three to four paragraphs Essay contains minor/no historical errors

8 Rubric for Long Essay 24-26 (B) Contains a thesis (argument) At least 2 specific examples supporting the thesis Essay does not addresses all parts of the question Essay is at least three paragraphs in length Essay contains some historical errors

9 Rubric for Long Essay 21-23 (C) Thesis (argument) is vague or does not address the entire question 1 specific examples supporting the thesis Essay addresses only part of the question Essay is less than three paragraphs Essay contains some significant historical errors

10 Rubric for Long Essay 19-20 (D) Lacks a specific thesis (argument) Examples are very general, lacks specifics Essay addresses only part of the question Essay is less than three paragraphs Essay contains some significant historical errors

11 Rubric for Long Essay 18 and below (F) No thesis (argument) No examples Essay does not address the question or is off topic Essay is less than three paragraphs Essay contains major historical errors

12 Extra Credit! If you have not used your no homework pass, you will get 5 points extra credit on your final

13 Homework Studyguide due on Tuesday, June 9 th (day of the final exam) Remember that the essays on the studyguide are extra credit! Can be an outline, but it must in a DETAILED OUTLINE!!
