13 Open Submissions for Goldsmiths's Buildings Students can submit temporary art and design projects which are affordable and easy to install. The students will build their portfolios and be paid for it.

14 Installations incorporating businesses Students will learn how to connect with the real world using their creativity, increasing their chances to be employed.

15 How it will work Research: Catherine Shovlin, Artmongers researcher, will identify key needs. She will do interviews with key staff members, local citizens and special interest groups. Commissioning: Projects for College's buildings on New Cross road and Lewisham Way, the two Train Stations and all spaces available in between them We will have an open process of selecting new projects from students. There will be a fee and a production budget as well as advice and support. Commissions will range from designing new gates or a colour scheme for a building to murals, films and performances. Community engagement: Develop trust and opportunities for people to make a positive contribution to New Cross. We will seek engagement through local primary and secondary schools. We will link to Goldsmiths Widening Participation Programme to develop a joint strategy. Work with community groups in the area Facilitating role: We will organise briefs, liaise with students, staff and stakeholders, advice on production, materials and schedule. Infrastructural works such as the proposed Amphitheatre, will be designed in consultation with Goldsmiths architect.

16 Lobbying: We will work with Goldsmiths lobbying team to involve institutions like TFL, Lewisham Council, etc. Maintenance: We will commission pieces specially designed for a particular length of time, making sure that it can withstand weather, tagging or graffiti. We will also decommission pieces that have extended beyond their time. Promotion: We will work on a joint strategy with the communications department to promote NEW X ING program and then implement. Departments Involved: All Departments Welcomed Themes: Widening Participation, Knowledge Transfer, Employability and Skills. Governance: Steering group made up of the College, the Student Union along with representation from New Cross Federation (Local Traders Association), New Cross Community Forum, local charities. Partners: Laban, Lewisham College, Lewisham Council, TFL, Network Rail, London Overground, Chamber of Commerce.
