Newer computers use a catch on the top and bottom of chassis. Step 2: Prepare an empty expansion slot. Remove the expansion slot cover.

Windows 2000/XP will recognize new hardware and configure it automatically. Other operating systems may require that you install device driver software.

Use documentation that came with system; or Take out a memory module and use it as a sample Step 2: Unplug and open computer. Step 3: Install new memory in empty memory socket.
