10 Child Maltreatment Cases investigated by CPS in 2010: 19,838 42% were supported for abuse or neglect: 8,320 42% involved children 0-5 years old: 3,494 Rate was 150 children per 100,000 in 2010 For comparison, the leading cause of death for children in 2010 was motor vehicle crashes at 3.37 motor vehicle child fatalities per 100,000. Increased risk for: becoming a victim or perpetrator of intimate partner violence as adults physical ailments (allergies, arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, high blood pressure and ulcers) psychological consequences (depression, anxiety, eating disorders, panic disorders, suicide attempts, ADD, PTSD) cognitive difficulties (poor academic performance, language development, and classroom functioning)

Rate of 66.5 rapes per 100,000 females in Utah in 2009. For comparison, the rate that women were killed in homicides was 1.15 per 100,000 and the rate women died of all injury related deaths was 37.51 per 100,000 (2009)
