3 Demand - getting out of hand… 196 new clients joined the waiting list since April 2015 During the same period 73 people started counselling At end march 2015 305 people on waiting list – projected that 392 on list at end March 2016 This despite SLT delivering over 3300 counselling sessions during 2014/15 (171% increase since 2010/11)

4 Demand - Clients having to wait… Average waiting time Norwich: Trainee counsellor clients – 19 weeks Qualified counsellor clients – 33 weeks Experienced counsellor – 42 weeks Yarmouth: Trainee counsellor clients – 33 weeks Qualified counsellor clients – 46 weeks Experienced counsellor clients – 60 weeks Some clients are waiting for over a year – some may never get to top of list

5 Demand - Our responses Managing demand – Cancellation/DNA policy – 3 missed sessions within a 3 month period needs to be referred to Clinical Lead for agreement to continue service No longer offering open ended service – agreed that long term work with following guidelines: Trainee counsellor clients – up to 40 sessions Qualified counsellor clients – up to 80 sessions Experienced counsellor clients – up to 120 sessions

6 Demand - Our responses continued Looking at other services: Support service Partner agencies – Surviving Together, Victim Support, Julian Support Short term service

7 Demand – Our responses continued Short term service: In addition to long term service Being piloted – will only continue if demonstrably beneficial to clients Successful service provided by Survivors in transition Has support from supervisors and clinical leads Can be delivered using person centred model Training and consultation with counsellors planned January 2016 Aim is : All people on waiting list offered service within reasonable time For some clients will be enough For others will be able to go back onto waiting list for long term work If agreed with clinical leads can be extended in exceptional circumstances

8 Raising money Significant proportion of funding from MOJ and PCC – required to: Provide stats Offer more services Significant proportion from charitable trusts Flexible But short term

9 Raising funds – the future Need to prepare for changes in funding regimes – contracts, tendering processes, competition: Deliver more Demonstrate numbers Demonstrate the benefit of the work we do to clients – what difference do we make
