2 CIM Users Group Organization CIM Users Group Executive Board – Sets annual agenda CIM Processes Working Group – Plans two meetings each year – Oversees IEC liaison status and document security – Manages Help Desk process – Email list at cim-process@ucausersgroup.orgcim-process@ucausersgroup.org Other working groups (EAI, Tools, Model Exchange & Naming, Testing & Compliance) – Merging will happen this week

3 Business Activity in 2009 Increase in interoperability testing – UCTE Interoperability (IOP) Test European TSO involvement – Part 9 Metering IOP – Dynamics IOP Growth in membership – Steady stream of help desk requests (one every three days or so) Web Site Enhancements – Model Issues list – Improved multi-site search – Calendar roll-up – What’s New list Sponsored UCA Co-Lab for future web capabilities – Six areas of improvement underway – Current focus: group email, Subversion configuration management

4 Challenges Smart Grid focus is accelerating standards development – NIST Assigned Accountability in U.S. – ARRA Smart Grid Investment Grants – IEEE Activity Picking Up (Committees, portal) – UCA subcontracted to Enernex for SGIP Resources are very stretched No paid staff for CIM Users Group support Utility co-chair changed jobs – replacement being elected this week

5 Recommendations for 2010 Focus on delivering NIST PAP assignments Delegate non-critical meeting tasks to a part-time meeting planner Invite student involvement for help desk support and general web support Sponsor webinars for better communication with members between meetings

6 Questions Is our current model scalable for growth? How will we address the NIST PAP assignments? What would help working groups get more done? Is the two-meetings-per-year agenda still the best approach? What training is needed? – Are pre-conference tutorials the best approach? – Would webinars help? – What kind of website training is needed? What website improvements are most important? – Role-based navigation – Quick access to use cases and draft documents – Group email/listserv/discussion/messaging capabilities
