Introduction - IKB PAP8 PAP14 DEWG Charter What should the T&D DEWG be doing? T&D DEWG or T and D DEWGs? T&D Officers Future T&D DEWG Tasks Where can the T&D DEWG have the greatest impact? How shall we identify gaps and overlaps? White papers – efficiency, asset management New ones Review EPRI Interim Roadmap Report for gaps/issues? PAPs Relevant for T&D What PAPs should the T&D DEWGs be monitoring? What new PAP areas should the DEWGs be exploring?

Scope: Utility transmission and distribution operations as well as interactions with other producer/users on the grid. Goals: To create unprecedented robustness and resilience to grid instabilities and disturbances for improved reliability. To improve power quality to meet customer needs and enable ready access for distributed generators to the grid Biweekly teleconferences: Wednesdays at 4:00 PM Eastern http://collaborate.nist.gov/twiki- sggrid/bin/view/SmartGrid/SGIPCalendar NIST SG Twiki : http://collaborate.nist.gov/twiki- sggrid/bin/view/SmartGrid/TnD

White Papers: Wide Area Monitoring, Automation, Communications and Control (WAMACC) for the Bulk Transmission System – Floyd Galvan & Team Smart Grid for Distribution Systems: The Benefits and Challenges of Distribution Automation (DA) – Frances Cleveland Smart Grid Focused Use Cases for Distribution Grid Management – Nokhum Markhushevich Presentations: EPRI Use Case Export/Import Tools and UML Models – Marty Burns Goal-Driven Use Cases – Art Griesser

Officers: Chair At the decision of the DEWG, a Vice Chair and Secretary may also be elected. DEWG officers will be confirmed by NIST. DEWG Roles and Responsibilities: Perform analysis of standards interoperability Identify gaps and overlaps Evaluate PAP proposals and collaborate on PAPs where appropriate Analyze smart grid interoperability requirements Review other SGIP group work products to provide domain perspective Respond to SGIP requests for domain analysis Provide the strategic DEWG domain perspective identify strategic issues that need to be addressed Provide input on ongoing development and direction of NIST Framework Identify regulatory and policy issues

Work Process/Outputs: Sub-groups may be created to address tasks Outputs may be white papers, use cases, or any other format as deemed by the DEWG; posted on the DEWG collaboration site and IKB; presentations by experts in workshops & tutorials Deliverables: Individual or collective reviews of a proposed PAP plan. At request of the GB, give an update on priority standards Review, extend, modify use cases developed by other SGIP groups At request of the PMO, review work from a committee Focus on strategic issues relevant for smart grids and consult with the GWAC Develop guidelines for sets of standards that together provide for communications interoperability to address a specific domain application.

T&D DEWG or T and D DEWGs? T&D Officers

Future T&D DEWG Tasks Where can the T&D DEWG have the greatest impact? How shall we identify gaps and overlaps? White papers – revisit existing ones (efficiency, asset management)? Review EPRI Interim Roadmap Report for gaps/issues ?
