1 Year 10 Rights & Freedoms US Civil Rights Movement L.I: Understand the contribution of significant individuals such as Martin Luther King to the US Civil Rights Movement. Success criteria: I can create a character profile on Martin Luther King Jr SST: Desegregation, Civil disobedience, protest, Martin Luther King Jr

2 Citizen King ❖ Write down 10 key points or facts (dates of important events, significant individuals, media reports, different perspectives etc.) These will be used for the following activity.

3 Facebook Character Profile Task In pairs Research Martin Luther King using laptops and create a character profile using a Facebook page scaffold. You will create a plan on paper of what you are going to write using a scaffold provided to you. Next lesson you will create a digital copy on a webpage in order to add extra media and internet links e.g. Youtube clips You will have this lesson to finish your plan and the following lesson to complete your digital FaceBook page. 5 Checklist – What you need to include 1.Basic information:  Sex: Current City: Birthday: Political Views: 2.Personal information:  activities: Interests: Favourite Music: Favourite Quotations: About Me: Family, (Parents, siblings, spouse, sons/daughters? (Education) Job, 3.Nine people whom Martin Luther King was closely associated with (Friends) 4.Five personal posts of different events Martin Luther King was a part of (Status updates - include:  What he was doing, how he personally felt the event was significant for US Civil Rights, who did he meet, What did he plan to do next?) Be creative! – posts are to be in depth and not just a simple sentence. 5.Three posts on his wall from friends or family (Be creative! - can be News or media reports shared on his wall/timeline depicting an important event - e.g. news report covering Martin Luther King or News report of attacks on the Civil Rights movement by the KKK that MLK may have shared.
