Create a web or diagram of your topic and major points by Linda Brumfield Paragraph 1: Begin with a paragraph containing a hook (See hooks lesson) which piques the reader's interest and introduces or refers to your topic. In non-fiction pieces, it may contain a thesis statement - a topic sentence for the entire piece which names the main ideas of your story.
