1 OCS Inc Systems for Libraries Self Service – computer print vending with a debit card system or coin op for Novell networks

2 OVERVIEW To control printing or charge for printing has become an imperative colleges and universities. Designed for both the library and the computer lab, OCS print station software will reduce wasteful printing and allow the student to print and pay for printing in a self service manner. Students can be given a ‘free’ balance to use up before they are required to pay.

3 OCS Novell Three Components 1. A dummy print queue is set up on the Novell Server (not printer and not print servers attached) 2. The print release station lists the jobs sent to the queue. 3. An optional client pop up screen allows users to name their jobs.

4 Card Dispenser Encoder Purchase and revalue cards Debit Card Readers For each copier and print station Debit Cards Generic or custom print Keypad Encoder For over-the-counter transactions Card reader systems – this system can utilize magnetic or smart chip cards (or coin-ops). The same card can be used for copies and prints

5 What the user sees After the patron clicks on “print” from their application: The POP- UP allows the user to name their job.

6 The Print Station – A windows PC Each job carries the name the user gave it. The user selects their job and clicks on ‘print’.

7 The user confirms payment After the user selects their job, the system asks them to pay for it. A Coin/Bill unit is attached to the PC print station via serial connection.

8 Additional Information The system allows users to send many jobs to the queue – but print only the ‘best source’. This saves a lot of paper Unprinted jobs auto delete / settable time- out OCS provides several usage reports

9 CONFIGURATION Debit card reader* Client PCs Print Server/Print Release Station *or coin op Many PCs can be serviced by one print station and vend device. The vend device serially connects to the print station. Separate or combined server/print station can be used and can service many print stations and client PCs.

10 System Requirements Windows pop up screens: Any windows 9x or better Print Release Station: Windows 9x or better.
