1 CONJUNCTIONS A conjunction is a word that ________ words or groups of words.connects Ex. Jack and Jill Over the river and through the woods There are three kinds of conjunctions: Coordinate, Subordinate and Correlative

2 CONJUNCTIONS COORDINATE(connects things of equal importance) They help form compound subjects, verbs, phrases, sentences, etc. Ex. and, but, or, nor, yet, ; SUBORDINATE(connects things of unequal importance) They are found in complex sentences.. Ex. after although as as if as long as because as soon as before if in order that since so that than though even though unless until when whenever where wherever while

3 CONJUNCTIONS CORRELATIVE(conjunctions that are used in pairs) Ex. neither – nor either – or both – and not only – but also whether – or

4 INTERJECTIONS An interjection is a word which expresses emotion and which is not related grammatically to other words in the sentence. Ex: Oh! You surprised me. Well, he did his best. Strong interjections are followed by an exclamation mark. Ex: Wow! That was a close call. Mild interjections are followed by a comma. Ex. Oh, I suppose you may go. (Interjections are the least used part of speech.)
