5 Career Exploration – Figure out what college will meet your career goals ! Try some skills & interests inventories to figure out where your strengths are! Think about… What are you good at? What do you value? What kind of life do you want for yourself and your family? Do some research!! Check out sites like CaliforniaColleges.edu, CollegeBoard, Naviance, etc.

7 Take Honor Courses/Advanced Placement Courses (AP) – shows that you are academically challenging yourself Strive for A or B grades (duh!) – GPA is weighted heaviest in 10 th & 11 th grade, and must be maintained in 12 th Talk to your teachers and let them know your goals Participate in College Prep Programs such as AVID, EAOP, Upward Bound, Puente – extra points on your college app!! Take advantage of support systems at school – TUTORING or any supplemental/enrichment programs Get involved in extracurricular activities, ESPECIALLY leadership and community service– and stick to them! Colleges like to see commitment! Transitioning to High School – Set a 4 Year Plan in 9 th Grade (NOW!)
