Would it be fair if one person decided for the rest of the school or the country?  Why?  How do we decide what is best for us? 7  We will no longer have a school council but a School Parliament  The campaign for candidates will start in September  Manifestos will be read publicly in assembly on the 14 th September  Heads of Year will organise elections for their year Minister on the 25 th and 16 th Sepetember  There will be elections for Ministers, Prime Minister and Speaker on the 17 th September  Each person interested must write a Manifesto  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJhwlzTZvzk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJhwlzTZvzk Changes from September

8  Pupils will vote for the best candidate- democratic elections  Each elected candidate to prepare an acceptance speech  The School Parliament will meet regularly  The Prime minister will feed back to school at assemblies  We will have a board for ideas/ suggestions for the Prime Minister  All members of the School Parliament must be willing to occasionally meet after school  Any Minister failing to fulfil Parliament duties or act as a role model will be removed from the Parliament and new elections for that post will take place  The school council will run as normal until 17 th July 2015

9 Prime Minister Deputy Prime Minister Minister Y3 to Y6 Speaker To debate ideas on how to improve the school. To propose improvements. To report back to Miss Travis and teachers. To feedback to the whole school. To attend all meetings. To become Prime Minister when the Prime Minister is away. To represent their year’s best interests. To voice concerns on behalf of their year group. To pass on posted ideas to the Prime Minister. To make sure meetings run smoothly by listening to all Ministers. To ensure everyone’s voice is heard.

10 Interested?  Think about it!  Which of the 7 positions is best for you?  Write a manifesto over the summer holiday.  Campaign in September- no bribing!  Good luck to everyone!
