Attendance on the Isle of Man The average for all secondary schools on the IOM last academic year was 94.21%

What does 90% really mean? 90% attendance equates to one half day every week. In Y10 that is the equivalent of four whole weeks (almost half a term) If a child continued this pattern then over five years (Y7 – Y11) they will miss the equivalent of about one half of a school year

Throughout your GCSEs That would mean missing 8 weeks of teaching and learning time during Year 10 and 11!

What it means over a term (approx. 14 weeks) 90%= 1 week 2 days 80%= 2 weeks 4 days 70%= 4 weeks 1 day 60%= 5 weeks 3 days 50%= 7 weeks 40%= 8 weeks 2 days 30%= 9 weeks 1 day

How might this affect your childs life? Research suggests that 17 missed school days a year = one grade drop in achievement The greater the attendance, the greater the achievement

Class of 2015 99% - 100% 100% Met or exceeded YELLIS target 100% 5 A-C including English and Maths 95-100% 1.05 grades higher on average per subject 90-94.9% 0.34 grades higher on average per subject <80% 1.8 grades lower on average

Grades = £ Pupils who leave school in Year 11 with 5 GCSE grade A/A* will earn around £350,000 more over their lifetime than those leaving with 5 GCSE grade C
