4 “Kick Me” THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO KICKING!!!! 1. I will tape a piece of paper to your back. 2. Get out of your seat and take your vocabulary list with you. 3. Your job is to find the missing definitions. 4. When you are finished, return to your seat. If you finish early, return to your seat and sit on you’re the chair backwards.

6 What type of family is this? One parent (mother or father) raising child or children due to death, divorce or abandonment. Single-Parent

7 What type of family is this? One or both parents have been married before bringing their children from the previous marriage into the family. They may have children together. Step/Blended

8 What type of family is this? 2 or 3 generations living under one roof Multi-Generational/ Extended

9 What type of family is this? A child that is temporarily placed with a family until the child’s “family problems” are settled. Foster

10 What type of family is this? Parents go through the courts to make children legally their own. Adoptions can be very diverse culturally speaking Adoptive

11 What type of family is this? A married man and women without children. Childless

12 Family: A group of people related to one another by blood (birth), marriage or adoption. Family Type: The makeup of a family. Generation: All the people who are born and live about the same time. A human generation is 25 years. Role: A person’s place in a group.

13 Write Sentences  You will write 1 sentence for each family vocabulary word.  Nuclear Family  Ex. The modern nuclear family of the 1950s typically consisted of dad the breadwinner, mom the housewife and several children.

14 T-Chart 1. There are several T-Charts around the room. Walk around and list at 2 PROS and CONS for each family type. 2. Each group will have a different colored marker!

16 TV/Movie Family Wheel Activity: 1. Choose a television family to use with this project. 2. Divide your wheel into 8 sections. Individually number the edge sections of the plate #1 and ending #8.
