10. Why is it Important Montana ranks #4 among states with the oldest population Projection: In year 2017, number of deaths will surpass births. In year 2025, 25% of the population will be 65 or older. Largest intergenerational transfer of wealth in the US is occurring right now TOW in Montana (2010 – 2020) = $12 Billion (most is projected to transfer to heirs not living in Montana)
