4 Framing Our Day  Results from the Leaders’ Survey  Goals and Agenda

5 What is exciting about the new Community Model within CACUSS?  Ability for members to belong to more than one Community and connect across interest areas (whether related to their job function or not); recognizes diversity of our work  Ability for those with shared interests and roles to come together for networking, sharing, building scholarship and sharing best practices  Opportunity to identify and address Canadian issues; bring together Canadian expertise  More structure, support and resources from CACUSS  Opportunity for new Communities to come together (that were not previously represented through Divisions)  Opportunities for collaboration/networking across Communities  Potential to attract new members  More opportunities for involvement within the organization

6 What have been your challenges to date in forming your Community?  No way of communicating with members (for getting input, connecting before the conference)  No goals/deliverables articulated for Community  Lack of awareness of our Community/how to involve or recruit members  Very Ontario/regionally focused  Organizational structure and leadership model for Community  Funding, concerns about budget approval process  Some members not also members of CACUSS: how can they participate? What barriers exist for joining CACUSS (e.g., $$) and how can these be bridged?  Not able to know who is in the Community (membership list)  Desire to network with other organizations or define relationships with existing organizations  Logistical: e.g., time to organize meetings, communication  Naming process/rules

7 What are your goals for the Leadership and Orientation? 1. Learn about the tools developed by CACUSS to support communities of practice in advancing our work 2. Learn about CACUSS organizational structures and the new Community model, including the Assembly of CACUSS Communities, funding available, any deadlines associated with that work, and address other technical/housekeeping business 3. Plan for the ongoing development of our community with my co-leaders 4. Identify barriers to success and strategies for overcoming these barriers 5. Network with other Community leaders and learn from my peers in terms of strategies and approaches for developing a Community
