5 In Egypt there are 14 export councils for different industrial/exporting sectors. Councils working in the Egyptian Textile Sector are our main focus: TEC RMGEC HTEC Employment 18-30% GDP 3% Non-Petroleum Exports 14.9% A Key Role in Egyptian Economy

6 A success story; where a MNC made a real impact on transformation Partnering with Ministries, Research Centers& International Funding Agencies Creating an eco-friendly and socially responsible Textile Supply Chain MNCS As Part of TEC started: “Cottonforlife” Initiative

7 Industry Education Agriculture “Collaboration between international stakeholders, with the support of the of the Egyptian Government to enhance the sustainability of the cotton value chain”

8 “ Cottonforlife grows Egyptian extra long staple organic cotton on more than 40 hectares of land with the aim to extend organic cultivation to other areas of the country” “Promote scientific Research in the field of cotton to assist the valuable work of farmers with expert Agronomists ”

9 “An Industry where transformation of raw cotton is based on eco-compatible processes respectful of people wellbeing” “Training and employability of young people in the textile industry through partnering with Egyptian Ministry of Education ”

10 “Export councils can play a more active role to activate learning among M/SMEs in Egypt with the help of its MN members”

11 In a country with a population of 90 million 50% of which below 30. M/SMEs are a dynamic force for sustained economic growth and job creation. More efforts needed to enhance subcontracting in textile industry to integrate M/SMEs. Incentive scheme created by the Egyptian government to encourage exporting M/SMEs

12 Elements of M/SMEs Growth The skills and systems required to compete effectively in global markets. Access to finance. Access to information. Business development services (BDS). Vocational training for labor.

14 Across The Textile Supply Chain There is a need for more institutions to work as incubators& accelerators for Start-Ups. Councils should play a more active role in introducing Start-Ups to sources of funding. Support entrepreneurs to close the gap in their business skills by giving them needed training. Provide mentorship, and a wider support network to help advance Start-Ups

15 “Your Job Next Door” Initiative An initiative by RMGEC to support entrepreneurs start garment production units. Small units to create jobs in areas with high unemployment rate. The goal for those Start-Ups is to be export- oriented in the near future.

16 Export Councils Proposing policies to the government for Industry Development Act More Suggesting procedures for enhancing the Business Framework Actively In: Developing Industry in Egypt to be part of the Global Supply Chain
