2  Where the family sleeps, rests, and bathes  Takes up about 1/3 of the house  Should be in the quietest part of the house  Should be on the south or southwest side of the house.

3  Houses are usually described as one, two or three bedrooms.  Size of family determines number of bedrooms.  Grouping bedrooms are more efficient  Usually the master is separate from the other rooms  100 square feet is the minimum size for a bedroom  Average is between 125-175 square feet  Bedroom size is dependent on use and furniture.

4  Needs to be room to maneuver  There should be 3 feet of space on 1 side of a bed and 4 feet between any stationary object.

5  Each bedroom must have a closet  Minimum depth must be 24 inches however, 30 inches or more is preferred.  If possible place along interior walls and by entrance  6-8 feet in height  Clothing rods are 40 – 48 inches off the ground  Shelves should be no more than 45 inches high and 16 inches deep.

6  There should be windows on two walls of a bedroom  Windows should be positioned so there is not a crosswind on the bed.  First floor bedrooms should have wide short windows for privacy.  Doors should open into a bedroom.  Placing doors near a corner waist less space.  Standard doors are 3 feet wide
