2 Setting up your child’s iPad for school Create and Apple ID Our recommendation is that your child does not know the password to this account. 4 Accessing the internet at School Using your iPad on your home network, download the iDET Wi-Fi profile from the school’s website. school’s website. Once you get to school your device will automatically find and connect to the network. You will be prompted to enter your username and password before accessing the internet. If your child does not know their school username and password, they will be provided it at the beginning of the school year.

5 Setting up Email Download the OWA app for iPad Enter your child’s user name and password (if your child does not know their school user name and password, they will be provided it at the beginning of the school year).

6 Parent Checklist Please discuss the Student Agreement Documents with your child. Please ensure your child understands they are NOT to share their iPad with anyone. The teacher will not ask them to do this. Photos, video & audio are not to be taken unless specifically directed to by the teacher. Supply teachers may leave the iPad unused for the day

7 Parent Checklist Have you purchased a protective case/cover? Tempered glass screen protector? Have you purchased a waterproof sleeve? Have you loaded all the required apps? Have you downloaded the Wi-Fi profile for internet access at school? Have you captured holiday photos on your iPad?

8 Insurance Try your home and contents insurance. Number of options can be found with a simple Google search specifically for iPads at school Apple ADP (Accidental Damage Protection)

10 Which iPads are compatible? Original iPads not compatible. All other versions currently are. What size should you get? A 16GB iPad may become filled quickly if a student captures a lot of video, installs large quantities of personal music and applications and may interfere with the storage requirements for school use as the full 16GB of storage may be required by some classes These personal items may need to be backed up regularly or removed if space has run out. A 32GB or 64GB iPad will future proof the device.
