2.  People play hockey because it defines who Canadians are.  Hockey a sport a sport mostly played in the winter.  Hockey is a well-known sport in North America.  Hockey brings us together as a community.  It embraces us to be skilled, independent and creative.  Hockey is one of Canada’s main sports.

3.  Hockey has been around for hundreds of years, but it wasn’t until around the 1970’s that women were allowed to play.  One of the main reasons people are in the minor leagues is because either they are too old to be in the minor leagues or they are training for the major leagues.  Hockey is one of the most expensive sport in the world. They have to pay for equipment and for the rental of the ice. That can sometimes be almost 1 000 dollars.

4.  The NWHL was a women’s ice hockey league was established in 1999.  The NWHL stands for National Women’s Hockey League.  The Canadian Hockey Association says the first recorded women’s hockey game took place in the 90’s.  Some of the best Canadian teams met annually in an east-west tournament to declare a national champion.  The organized women’s game declined after world war 2 and throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s.

5.  Pros-You get to travel to different cities.  You get to be on television if you are in the NHL.  You can make new friends and be active.  Cons-People have a lot of injuries.  You have to practice quite a bit or you might get sent back to the minor leagues.
