+ Where Did Soccer Originate From? The first international soccer match was between England and Scotland in 1872. Soccer was became an Olympic sport in the 1900 Olympics. However where the sport itself originated is someone a mystery. However historians were able to trace it back to Ancient China, not knowing whether or not this is actually where it originated it as far back as they were able to find. The Chinese mounted a goal on a wall and would kick a ball at it.

+ Who Made the First Set of Rules? Why? Walter Camp is believed to have been the first person to make an official set of rules for soccer. He however was part of a committee when making these rules. They did this because they wanted the game to have order, before this it wasn’t an official international sport.

+ How Many Countries Play Soccer As Their National Sport? Over 140 countries play soccer as their national sport. These countries include, several countries in Europe, Asia, The Middle East, Oceana and South America. However North America doesn’t have countries that play soccer as their national sport because America’s is Baseball and Canada’s is Hockey.

+ Why is Soccer so Popular? I think that soccer has become so popular over the world for the following 3 reasons. It is a sport that helps build team work and thinking skills. Soccer is a fun sport that also helps you stay in shape. People like to have their countries hosting the sports because it makes the country more well known, like Qatar with the 2022 bid.

+ Are Their Different Styles of Soccer Around The World? Countries all over the world play the same sport with the same rules. However all countries/teams have different tactics and plans. They also might have different skills and try to focus on those skills more than others.
