What is the First 3 Weeks of School about? Set expectations Decide rules and routines with pupils Develop independence in classroom and around school Get to know pupils well – learning needs, social skills, friendships Working hard on learning in school Project to have fun with. We are doing fairytales.

End of Day Procedures P2 pupils will be dismissed by the teacher at the P2 door. Please be vigilant in looking out for your child – we can only dismiss your child if they can clearly see you. For their own safety could you please keep young children beside you. Please ensure you send us a written letter stating who will be collecting your child if different from the normal person. Last safety point! P3’s are still working in school it is our responsibility to keep the school safe.

Behaviour Expectations Respect Focus across both campuses linked to Right Respecting School Golden Rules Telephone calls home about concerns Telephone calls with good news Postcards home Stickers, certificates, positive behaviour policy

Assessment We will be using a variety of strategies to assess your child over the year. Early assessments include: phonics, keywords, number and number formation and letter formation. At the end of each topic we will be assessing what the children have learned through a variety of tasks to accommodate all learning styles.

Information for P2 Parents Homework –Reading will be given weekly. Please sign the reading diary. Weekly spelling will be given out later in the term. Topics – In our Street, Water/Weather, Scotland, Then and Now, James and Giant Peach literacy topic linked to Minibeasts. Helpers – please sign the list at the door! Golden Time – toys from home only allowed on “Special” Golden Time days (Last Friday of month) Housekeeping bits and bobs – water bottles, lunch money in purses, any money in named envelope, named clothes & lunch boxes.

Home/School Partnership School have pupils for 20% of learning opportunities. Parents and school working together to support children has the most beneficial effect. Please come and discuss concerns or worries early.
