3 What is Arizona Gives Day? –Collaboration between Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and Arizona Grantmakers Forum –24 hours –Completely Online –Goals: Raise public awareness Increase nonprofit capacity Increase individual giving

4 Benefits of NAME participating –Engage new donors –Strengthen social media presence –Link arms with 800+ nonprofits statewide to promote our sector –Access new online giving tools –Serve more people –Collaborate with new partners –Raise money for a specific project –Teambuilding and excitement around our mission

9 How it Works 5) Raise funds and compete for prizes In 2013, 40 different nonprofits received incentive prizes, totaling $179,500 There were categories for small and large nonprofits to compete in.

10 Why Arizona Gives Day Responding to needs of nonprofits: –Public education about nonprofits –#1 challenge of our members: fundraising Needs of philanthropic community –AZ Ranks 40th for average charitable donations –Reduce pressure on institutional donors National trend of online giving days –Minnesota – launched in 2009 - $70 million to date raised –Colorado – launched in 2010 – over $36 million to date raised

11 2013 Campaign Results 8,584 Donors and $928,541 Nonprofits: –647 received donations (80% of the 807 registered) –Median of $395; 25% raised $1,000 or more that day –Continued raising money after Arizona Gives Day –75% of organizations that raised money said they received donations they would not otherwise have received and 77% said they had attracted new donors
