This is regulated by Order dated 23 February 1991, which stipulates that INSTRUCTORS FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINING MODULES IN GENERAL must fulfil the same requirements as secondary school teachers, i.e.: They must be in possession of a university degree, or of the equivalent as Engineer or Architect; while persons who hold qualifications that are accepted as equivalent to the foregoing for teaching purposes must have additional accreditation for teaching specific subjects or in specific areas. o For accreditation that candidates’ training in the subject is adequate, any one of the following must be demonstrated: o An academic record showing that they have completed studies in the subject for which they are seeking accreditation o At least two years relevant teaching experience of the subject o Teacher training related to the subject and certified by the competent educational body They must hold a professional specialised teaching diploma acquired by taking a course in teaching skills. For some areas there is an additional requirement that instructors be working professionals.

3. FOR SPECIFIC VOCATIONAL TRAINING The range of admissibility is broadened to include holders of diplomas, engineering and architectural technicians, or their equivalents. For certain vocational modules, contracts as specialist instructors may be given to professionals who are actually working in that area and who, because of their experience, are recognised as competent for the modules that the education system assigns to specialist instructors. The requirements for this are as follows: o A Certified Labour Record (certificado de vida laboral) issued by Social Security o An employer’s statement certifying the type of work, length of employment and dates It is up to other education authorities to impose further work skills and experience requirements if they so wish.
