3 “The Millennials born after 1990 are a whole new batch of students. We call them Generation iY because their life is dominated by the iPhone, the iPod, iTunes, etc.” Tim Elmore This generation of students can be summarized with the phrases:  They believe they can do great things…but they can be idealistic.  They want to act now…but they can be impatient when results take too long.  They love interaction…but may avoid initiating if they must act alone.  They have a high self-esteem…but they can appear self-centered.  They want to explore the future…but can be paralyzed when faced with so many options.

10  Mr. Chris Belcher, Assistant Principal  Students are allowed 10 absences per semester ▪ Attendance contract at 11 absences ▪ TU – Tardy Unexcused ▪ How do I excuse my student’s absence?

11  What do I do if someone is bullying me?  Talk to an adult, online bullying report (HS webpage) or the Emergency Text Line  Are there fights, drugs, and alcohol everywhere at GBHS?  NO! Students are well aware of the consequences (10 day suspension) for these offenses and usually choose not to risk it.  When can I use my phone?  During passing time and at lunch. Sometimes during class but only when teacher gives permission.  GBHS is so big! How will I ever get to my classes on time?  Students are given 9 minutes if they cross campus and 6 if they do not. 12 Mrs. Trish Poelke, Assistant Principal  Will I have lunch with my friends?  There are 3 lunches. Students will have many friends to choose from. If they are not able to find someone, have them see a counselor and we will help.  Will I have to cross in the polar vortex?  Yes. We will provide shuttle buses when the temperature reaches -15  What if my locker is far away?  If your students’ locker is not working for them, have them come to the office. They can also have a locker at each campus if needed.  Will I get “lost” at GBHS because it is so big?  The advantage of a large school is that students have so many choices of friends, clubs, and activities. Have your student get involved and they will not feel lost.  Will the principals be mean to me?  We are actually very approachable and friendly.
