1 SENIOR LUNCH-N-LEARN

2 I’m A Senior! Now What?  Lots of work to do.  Lots of money to pay.  Lots of fun to have!

3 TESTING  GHSGT retakes begin on Sept 10.  You will receive a notice before the end of this week with your required tests.  Writing Test is coming up on Oct 3.  Writing Workshops – Sept 22 & 29. Return registration form ASAP.

4 SAT / ACT  Plan to take SAT and/or ACT this semester.  You will need scores as soon as possible for college applications.  Be sure to have scores sent directly to your school(s) of interest.  Select schools at the time of registration.

5 TEST PREP  PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!  Visit websites to do practice questions.  On test day, come prepared with: pencils, calculator, photo ID and admission ticket.  New rules this year!!!  See Mrs. Morris in the Career Center for fee waivers.

6 COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS  Begin narrowing down college choices.  Plan to apply to 3-5 colleges.  Follow instructions on College Application Checklist.  Give your teachers, counselor plenty of time to complete forms or letters (at least one week).  Plan your campus visits. You get 2 days to go on campus visits. See Mrs. Morris for the form.  You may qualify for an application fee waiver.

7 COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS  Consider your qualifications for the college(s) to which you are applying.  Check their website for the average freshman GPA and/or SAT score.  Do you fall within range?  Consider cost, location, and course offerings.

8 Cover Your Bases  If your GPA is below 3.0, consider applying to a 2- year college.  Starting at a 2-year school gives you a chance to build your GPA.  You can transfer to a four-year college later, and possibly qualify for scholarships.

9 Career Training  The best route to career training after high school is technical school.  West Georgia Tech offers training in:  Nursing  Dental Assisting  Office Management  Auto Mechanics  Heating and Air Conditioning Service

12 Senior Parent Night  Sept 27 @ 7 pm in the Theater.  Mrs. Craft and Senior Sponsors will talk about plans for senior activities and graduation.  You will receive your packet with your credit summary, transcript and conference worksheet.
