CIPD awards Chartered membership to HR professionals whose expertise and experience meets the standards within the Profession Map Achieving chartered status requires HR professionals to demonstrate a proven track record in the workplace Chartered membership means meeting the gold standard for the profession – for organisations and individuals alike, it signifies genuine professionalism in HR We are the only HR institution in the world to recognise HR professionals through ‘Chartered membership’

6 Which route? There are two routes to professional membership:
Upgrade - for members with the relevant CIPD qualification Experience Assessment – for members without a CIPD qualification

8 How does upgrading work?
Two routes – paper based or telephone Paper based an application form CV provides context of career Feedback from Line Manager and one Colleague Org chart can be included Telephone No paperwork 45 minutes to an hour of your time CV and Line manager support

9 Experience Assessment process
Pre Assessment Discussion 30 minute discussion to determine membership level Impact Report Detailed record of past achievements Self Assessment Behavioural review Workplace Feedback Colleague feedback on behaviour and activity Case Study Fictional business case study requiring HR response 8 weeks Professional Discussion 3 ½ hour in-depth interview reflecting on achievements & development Feedback report and invitation to Chartered or Associate membership
