4 How did France change under Napoleon? Under KingRevolution Under Napoleon Edu- ca- tion Privileged went to schools “School for everyone” – state schools proposed – none set up. By 1814, 9000 students out of 30 million population. Primary, secondary, lycees, & technical schools Gov- ern- men t Absolutism -No elections -All laws made by King No single ruler. National Assembly elected by voters. Napoleon as Emperor. National Assemblies – candidates elected by people but chosen by Napoleon. No elections after 1804.

5 Improvements Napoleon got rid of feudalism. Peasants no longer had to pay fines. Legion of Honour (rewarding talented and hard-working people)

7 Destiny Napoleon believes he is a man of destiny – someone who can change the face of Europe. “Sow a habit, and you reap a character; sow a character, and you reap a destiny” ~ Anon.
