1 8/27/2014 Bellringer: Get out a piece of paper, a pen, and a hard surface to write on (folder, binder, etc.). Learning Target: You will learn the classroom procedure for Quick Quotes, while getting to know your peers. Agenda: Quick Quotes Quick Quotes Debrief

2 QUICK QUOTES Head your paper correctly, including the title. With your materials, bring your chairs into the middle of the room and face the center. You should be directly across from someone. A prompt/question will come up on the board. You will have two minutes to discuss the prompt/question and write your answer on your paper. For today, you will just write down the name of the person across from you and something they said in a nutshell. After two minutes is up, you will move to the seat to your left.

3 NAMES What is your full name? How did you get your name? Are you named after anyone?

4 FOOD What is your favorite food? What do you eat when you're happy? What do you eat when you're sad? What is your favorite dessert? What would you never eat?

5 BOOKS READ What are you reading right now? What book do you want to read next? Do you prefer magazines? What is the most interesting thing you've learned from a book?

6 PLACES BEEN Where were you born? Where have you lived? What was your favorite house? Where do you like to go with your family? Describe your dream house.

7 SPARE TIME What are your hobbies? Do you spend time by yourself or with friends? What would you do if you had a spare month to fill?

8 PEOPLE Who influences you? What famous person would you like to know? Who has done something you found inspirational? Who do you miss the most?

9 PETS Have you had a pet? How did you get it? How long did you have it? Are you an animal person? What is your favorite animal?

10 SPORTS Do you like to play sport or watch? What sport do you like? Have you played on any sports teams? If you could go to an Olympic event what would you choose?

11 SCHOOL Where did you go to elementary school? What is your favorite subject? Where do you want to go to college?

12 MUSIC Do you play an instrument? When did you start? What music do you like to listen to? What is your favorite song? Do you like to sing?

13 GAMES Do you like to play games? What games did you play as a child? Do you have a favorite board game? What TV game show do you like?

14 SLEEP Are you a morning person? Do you like to sleep in? Can you sleep anywhere? What's the longest you've ever been awake? Do you have favorite pajamas?

19 CLOTHES Do you have a favorite outfit? What was the worst thing you ever wore? Have you ever had to wear a costume? Do you like to dress up?

20 MOVIES What is your favorite movie? What was the last movie you saw? If you could make a movie what would it be about? What do you wish they'd make a movie of?

21 QUICK QUOTES DEBRIEF When we use this activity for content, the questions will be content-based questions or prompts that you have to discuss and find answers to. In this activity setting, what skills do you need to have to participate appropriately?
