3. History of the International Baccalaureate® The International Baccalaureate® (IB) was founded in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1968 as a non-profit educational foundation. A group of talented, forward-thinking teachers at the International School of Geneva, with assistance from several other international schools, created the IB Diploma Programme. What started life as a single program for internationally mobile students preparing for university has today grown into three programs for students aged 3 to 19.

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) The IB Middle Years Programme, for students aged 11 to 16, provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and become critical and reflective thinkers.

The Curriculum The program consists of eight subject groups: 1.Language Acquisition 2.Language and Literature 3.Individuals and Societies 4.Sciences 5.Mathematics 6.Arts 7.Physical and Health Education 8.Design During the 10 th grade students are to complete a personal project, which allows them to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed. This project has an innumerable range of topics and formats, and it allows the student to research what he/she is truly passionate about. You can see some of the past Personal Project topics on the next slide.

8. MYP & AP Our 9 th grade IB hopefuls are currently taking AP Human Geography and our 10 graders are taking AP Government & Politics.

10. Contents: What does the Diploma Programme curriculum contain? The curriculum contains six subject groups and a core of three parts.  three subjects at higher level (240 hours each).  three subjects at standard level (150 hours each).  all three parts of the core. The IB Learner Profile and the core are central to the philosophy of the Diploma Programme. Students study concurrently:
