2. Inheritance DMD is a sex-linked disorder that most commonly appears in young boys. DMD is caused from a mutated X chromosome from the mother which causes Dystrophin to stop being produced.

3. Symptoms When dystrophin stops being produced leg and pelvic muscles are severely weakened over time. Symptoms progressively appear after birth such as trouble walking and running as well as difficulty getting up.

4. Prognosis Unfortunately the prognosis for DMD isn't good. Life expectancy is usually around 25 years old because DMD can lead to a disease that affects the lungs.
