3 Pollution from cars and factories and the cities not having the infrastructure to handle the higher population. Tourism-Millions visit the resort of latin America every year. New hotels, boutiques, restaurants and other businesses have sprung up. Staffing these are locals who profit from the tourists. Resorts also offer jobs to locals. Guided river trips, sailing, snorkeling all bring in money. This influx of money helps reduce the gap between rich and poor.

4 Resorts are built in unspoiled settings bringing congestion and pollution. Strains the local communities and shows the gap between rich tourists and poor locals. Local government run up large debt to build airports and harbors, the sewage system and shopping must be expanded. Ownership of resorts often live in other counties and send profits back home. Often acting in ways not best for the tourist country and sometimes affecting elections.
