2 12/6/2015Middletown, CT Rotary Club2 Project Description The 36,000 residents of the remote communities in the Andes mountains outside of Quito have little access to clean water. Only 12% of the families have access to potable water. The major source of water for drinking, cooking and washing is rivers and streams. Raw water is plentiful; clean water is not.

3 Why This Project? 1)There are minimal potable water resources 2)Many use contaminated water 3)Residents have serious gastro intestinal infections 4)Schools with young children lack sources of potable water 5)Sick students lead to high rates of absence from classes and low educational performance

7 12/6/2015Middletown, CT Rotary Club7 Located in the Andes Mountains, Pichincha is a province of Ecuador located in the northern sierra region. Although this region is mostly rural and difficult to access, its capital and largest city is Quito with a population of 2.4 million people.

9 12/6/2015Middletown, CT Rotary Club9 Facts The project can be completed in 120 days from the time the funds are received by the host club. The project is “Fully Pledged” meaning, the amount of the pledges is equal to the total budget of the project.

10 ROTARY CLUB QUITO NORTE Rotary Club Quito Norte has experience in developing water purification systems for schools in disadvantaged areas and desires to continue these efforts in cooperation with the Rotary International President’s Call To Action to help the poor people of this world – especially the children.

11 ROTARY CLUB QUITO NORTE DRINKABLE WATER PROJECT FOR TEN COMMUNITIES
