LACK OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER

Seeing as 70% of the earth’s surface consists of water you might think it would be easy to get drinking water for all of the population. However only 0.25% of that is safe for human beings to drink.

LACK OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER 1.3 billion women and girls in developing countries are doing without access to private, safe and sanitary toilets. 80% of all illnesses in the developing world result directly from waterborne pathogens And an estimated 5 million children and adults die from diarrhoea each year, the primary cause of which is contaminated drinking water.

LACK OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER Dirty water kills 5000 children every day. Water related diseases kill 5 million people each year That’s 10 times the amount of people who are killed in wars

LACK OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER One flush of a Western toilet uses as much water as the average person in the developing world uses for a whole day’s washing, drinking, cleaning and cooking. Poor people living in the slums of Manila or Accra are paying more for their water than rich people living in New York, Rome or London In the developing world, 90% of all sewage water still goes untreated into local rivers and streams In the next 20 years, the UN predicts the quantity of water available to everyone will decrease by 30%.
